According to the Cyprus hospitality anywhere you go to visit, you will be offered a cup of Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is served in three ways - without sugar (sade), a medium sweet (orta) and sweet (sekerli). Near the cup is always served a glass of cold water. The contrast of hot coffee and cold water creates an extraordinary sensation of taste.

Nescafe in North Cyprus is an instant coffee, which is also served in all restaurants and cafes. Coffee Filter – is the coffee, which cooked in a special coffee maker machine.

One of the most popular beverage in North Cyprus is fresh orange juice.

North Cyprus has all kinds of Turkish wines. Many tourists from England and Germany, who came to the island each year, love the Turkish wine and like to call themselves to their best experts. In restaurants and shops there are also wines from Italy and Germany and from other countries all around the World.

From the strong drinks in the North part of the Cyprus Island is the famous traditional Turkish drink Raki. This drink typical aperitif and Cypriots drink it before dinner. It is made from grapes and tastes of Aniseed, similar to the French drink named Pastitsa. The culture and manufacture of Raki came to Cyprus from France in the Middle Ages, during the Crusades.

Raki normally is drunk mixed of cold water: the high glass is filled with ice and an amount of three-fingers of Raki is poured in, and then topped with cold water. It is drunk slowly over a long period of time. When Raki is mixed with water, the color of drink is changing to white. The milky color gave the reason for the people of Cyprus and Levant countries (Levant is an old name for the group of Eastern countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Jordan and Egypt) to name this drink as Lion's milk. This way of drinking and its name, relates to the religious prohibition of alcohol for Muslims. At all local markets and shops it is easy to buy Raki. One local expert said that this drink must be drunk “with open eyes”, because of the alchogol contents of 50 %.

From the strong drinks are also very popular in restaurants is whiskey. North Cyprus has a wide variety of different kinds of whiskey. Whiskey imported here from Scotland and some of them are made in the local factories in Famagusta. The best types of whiskey have the signs "Single malt".
